Van Halen: 1984

Released in (you guessed it) 1984 on Warner Brothers Records. I like the tracks okay, but I must admit the front cover art may have been the main reason I made this purchase. The back cover (shown below) is much less impressive.

Track Listing

side one:
Running On Empty
The Road
Rosie
You Love The Thunder
Cocaine

side two:
Shaky Town
Love Needs A Heart
Nothing But Time
The Load Out
Stay

One of my favorite classic rock albums. "The Road" is a cool track. The first half of the song was recorded in a hotel room, the second half was recorded live at a show, with a seamless transition between them. Pretty neat. "The Load Out" is an awesome tune.

I love this band, and this album is incredible. This copy came from Renaissance Records in Birmingham and is actually the first new vinyl I purchased. It comes with a poster and a code to download a digital version of the album. Awesome.

I acquired this on eBay for just under $3.00 (that's right). I took a gamble thinking it may be total junk. I was fired up when I opened the package to find an early pressing in great condition. I do not think this is a first pressing but the consensus from the info I've found using the matrix numbers is it is at least an early pressing. Please comment if you have any other info/insight.
